Las Vegas, March 2005.
Las Vegas is most definitely my favorite place to visit. The weather
didn't cooperate 100%, but it was still nice enough to walk around.....and get
lost. Yeah, I took us through a questionable neighborhood because I
thought I saw a short-cut. Turned out to be an 8 mile walk. It
rained a little bit. It actually poured for a period; twice. I'd never
seen it rain in a desert before, but when it rains, man! it rains.
Pictures are posted. This was a very good
trip & very nice time. Too short (3 nights, 2 days), but relaxing just the
same. Yes, as you can see, we met Pete Rose. This is a shot of Pete
& I at the Caesars sports book. We also saw the Barry Manillo concert at
the Las Vegas Hilton. He is a very good performer & has a great voice.
I was actually impressed with the show - I only went because Cathy wanted to see
him. It was her birthday present from me. The Manillo slot machines
are very nice too: I made 1 $3 pull and won $200. So of course I cashed
out. Barry Manillo is very generous too :)
The LV Hilton is a very nice hotel &
casino. We were treated very well. And we got the room for free....
that always helps the pen on the comment card. Actually, we didn't fill
out a comment card. The casino dealers were the friendliest in town this
trip. They really were! The place is clean, the rooms are large, and
the shows are superb. The restrooms are clean, the employees are friendly,
and the grounds are very well groomed. The location is not too bad - just
1 block from the strip, which is actually a 15 minute walk from the front door.
We visited the Imperial Palace one night, and again, that place is rockin' at
night. Those "dealertainers" are incredible. And even the other
dealers are entertaining.
Also, Cathy won a free entry into a 3 Card Poker Tournament.... Nope, not
me, just her. But it includes the entry fee. And the hotel!! I
doubt we go again in July, but you know I'll be working it :) Maybe we'll
see Johnny Bench next time!
Anyway... LV Hilton = A+. Barry Manillo = A+. A walk from Hard Rock
to LV Hilton = D. Having a conversation with a sports legend = A+.
